Scott Merrell

Scott Merrell’s father, Captain Richard Merrell (NWA Retired) was one of the charter members of FAPA when it began in 1972. As a result, not only has he grown up being surround by pilots and the aviation industry, he has been connected to FAPA since its beginning.

A Seattle native, Scott’s background in both aviation and education have shaped his life to make him the well-practiced aviation enthusiast he is today. In the past, Scott has served as the Educational Outreach Director for the Heritage Flight Museum, an advisor and board member to the Northwest Airline History Centre, a teacher/facilitator for the Technology Student Association in the Lake Washington School District, and an active participant and supporter of the World Aviation Historical Society.

When not sailing, talking about airplanes, acting as the Flight Operations Director for Merrell Aviation, a member of the National Board for Aviation Safety for the EAA (of which he was Chapter President for ten years), or an Adjunct Lecturer at the University of Washington Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Scott works as the Logistics Manager at Albertsons Companies – one of the largest food and drug retailers in the country – overseeing freight and vendor relations. His position affords him the opportunity to travel the globe, visiting unique destinations, such as Bahrain, Scotland, and Tanzania. He spends a fair amount of time in Alaska as well. Having been a passenger on most carriers, whether domestic or international, Scott’s favorite airlines are QATAR Airways and Kenmore Air – the float plane airline – out of Seattle, WA.

Scott lends his expertise and helping hands to FAPA as its event coordinator, facilitating our monthly events as well as taking care of recruiting companies and job-seeking pilots alike. You’re likely to find him registering attendees, setting up the AV equipment for presentations, or handing a bottle of water to a parched pilot recruiter during FAPA’s monthly Pilot Job Fairs and Future Pilot Seminars.
